CTS ! The subject I like the most among all.

It is really fun and interesting, somehow special.

This is the first mindmap we did in a group at the beginning of the class.

It is about doing a mindmap on a song chosen by our lecturer.

The song we get is Brianstorm by Artic Monkeys.

We've been taught how to use the six thinking hats through this assignment.

Continuously, we were given another task to design a CD cover for the song we've chosen in a group.

It is actually quite difficult as we were required to do the CD cover based on that specific song.

However, we've done a few drafts and everyone agreed to choose the bottom one.

From here, I've learnt how to be cooperative with my group members to accomplished the assignment given.

Here comes the interesting part and the assignment I enjoyed the most.

Actually, it was quite surprising when I heard we have to create a monster of our own in this subject.

I am thinking what is the concern of a monster with our future studies ?

And now, I know that it is to open up our creative thinking skills.

Although I really love to do all these assignments but, I really cracked my brain to create those special and unique monster, monster city and more.

Below are my IDJ 1 to 5.

IDJ 1

Mindmap for creating a monster.

This is the mindmap i created for my monster.

My monster - Pinkasour.

It is a transformation of Prof. Nana to the monster and it named itself as Pinkasour

It has a big and small eyes. The bigger eye can look at things from very far away.

While the smaller eye can look at very tiny thing, it is a microscopic eye.

In addition, it has a pair of long and elastic hand. It also has sharp teeth and a pair of ears which can hear every sounds at the surrounding.

IDJ 2

My monster city - Rainbow City

This is the monster city I've drawn.

It is called the Rainbow City.

The city is invisible to human eyes, only monster could see it.

And the city is protected by the rainbow, the cloud is a weapon to attack their enemy.

There are facilities like hospital, barber's shop, cafe, supermarket and a bathing lake for all the monster.

The houses are classified into two, the bigger one is for the adult monster and the small house is for the children.

I felt it is a really cool to have my own imaginary city that I wish I could live in as it is really colourful and nice.

IDJ 3

My monster's enemy - Pageanixie

As for IDJ 3, we were given a task to create our monster's enemy, bestfriend, or sidekick.

I've chosen to create an enemy for my monster.

The picture above is the enemy I've created for my monster.

It is called Pageanixie.

It has a special power, which she could poisoned others with her poison powder that was kept in the polka dots on her head.

She can also fly and swim very fast.

Below are the storyline of how Pinkasour (my monster) and Pageanixie (the protagonist) becomes enemy.

IDJ 4

As for this assignment, it is to create an event for my monster.

After thinking so hard of what special event I could do, and i finally decide to create a simple event

but with lots of surprises in it.

The Welcome Party for my Monster.

I've planned every details of how the event would look like.

The foods and drinks, activities and games, highlight of the event, layout of the venue and also the invitation cards.

Some examples of the food are squirrel meatball nasal mucus soup, cockroach muffin and more.

As for the activites and games, there are mini concert, eat till you puke competition, the crashing trolley race and etc.

Next, the highlight of the event are the special award that will be given to my monster as the first monster that came from outside world.

This is how the place would look like on the party.

It will be held at the Pastureland in Rainbow City.

IDJ 5

My book cover - Live Life To The Colourfulest

This is the book cover I've designed based on my characteristic and also my monster.

It is simple but it has meaning in it.

The rainbow, the colour pencils and the book title, all of them has a meaning in it.

The rainbows gives a meaning that I want to have a colourful and happy life that just looks like a rainbow.

Then, I took the photos of my very own colour pencils and included it in my book cover.

This is because

the colour pencils is usually what I used to colour all my idj's. 

And so, I felt that my box of colour pencils are like my friends that helped me out a lot.

Well, I really love doing IDJ's.

The onomatopoeia !!

Surprisingly, I couldn't believe that we would be singing !

However, in a special way, that is we could only use our mouth to make the background music.

And now, I finally knew what exactly is an onomatopoeia performance.

Onomatopoeia - FNBE July 2012

I realised that it was not as easy as we think it is.

We need a lot of practice, over and over again.

It was quite difficult to get all the group members together and practice as we have classes at different time.

So, I felt that to make a good performance we have to start practicing very soon after the brief of the assignment were given and not doing it at the very last minute.

Overall, I really enjoyed the day , as there is a few great performance by my classmates.

Public Service Awareness Advertisement.

This is the another project we were required to do in a group.

It is about making an advertisement not longer than 2 minutes about cases like bullying, drugs that will ruin your life and etc that you are concerned of.

My group members and I chose to do an Ad about Stop Bullying among girls.

Bullying among girls had actually become quite an issue in this generation.

Moreover, filming an Ad is very hard as it should be short but you have to catch the point that you want to show people about the issue you're advertising.

Thus, I think we did get to the point to show people about bullying.

Last but not least, this is our final project.

We have to make a Rube Goldberg machine for a specific topic that was related our previous assignment which is the IDJ's.

I've chosen the topic on "Fighting with my enemy".

 The photos show the process of making my Rube Goldberg machine with my team mates.

 And, this is the final product of my Rube Goldberg machine !

Unfortunately, during the presentation day I've an injury and couldn't attend the presentation.

However, I have to thanks Ai-Qi and Cul Wei for helping me out on presenting my machine.

Although it didn't went smoothly but I do enjoy the process of making this machine.

It was worth it to scarified my sleep to make this machine.

In short, I felt that I have improved a lot on my creativity.

I love this subject very much and I'm grateful to have these wonderful lecturers that helped us out a lot.

English 1

Writing an essay is the first assignment we were given for the subject.

The topic I've chosen for the essay is "Ways to Curb Littering".

I felt that I have improved on my writing skills.

And, I've understand the format of writing a good essay.

In addition, I was taught how to do citation and referencing in APA style format.

It was really helpful when I have to do reference or citation on other subject.

 Then, a listening test was given by our lecturer.

We were given a few practice to improve our listening skills before the real test.

In fact, I've really improved a lot.

By the way, I've also found out that the technique is jotting down the keywords in short form while listening.

Moreover, I've learnt to recalled back what I've listened.

Next, it was an oral presentation.

However, it was quite different from the usual presentation that we've heard before.

Our lecturer, Ms. Lojana has given us a task on doing a video for our presentation.

My group mates and I decided to do a short story.

Everyone had so much fun and we really enjoyed ourselves during the process.

Lastly, this assignment are about doing a photoblog and give a presentation after that.

It is a group work that we are required to make a research and a visit to any places in Malaysia or other country.

The place my team mates and I have chosen were Langkawi Island.

We've chosen this place because it is a legendary island with so much legends and myth that would be very interesting to learn more about it.

Below are somre photos of us having fun in the legendary island.

This assignment had bond me and my classmates closer together.

We've learned how to help out each other when we were away from home.

As for the presentation, I felt that it was really important to be prepared before it.

I was quite nervous at first as we were asked to present it one by one infront of the class.

However if you were really prepared, it was not that scary after all.

On the other hand, I've learnt that eye contact is really important as it would effectively attracts the attention of people.

By having some body movement, we would not bored out the people who are listening to us.

Hence, I should practice more on doing a presentation so that i wouldn't embarrassed myself in the future.

Practice makes perfect.

Overall, I've really enjoyed our English class. Also, I'm very grateful to have such a friendly and helpful lecturer.  Thank you, Ms. Lojana. =)

Elements of Natural & Built Environment

SKETCH JOURNAL ,

 For this subject, we were required to do some sketches.

The sketch journal is a weekly assignment.

So, let me show you some of my sketch.

I've been working very hard on this, 

although it's not very good but I hope there's some improvement.

This is the cover page of my sketch journal.

Simple as it is.

 

This sketch is about the landscape perspective.

This is an imaginary garden of mine.

As you can see, there are many different types of plants to fill up the garden.

For example, ferns, tulips, grass and lavender.

There is also a pathway made of giraffe-patterned tiles.

From here, I've learned that landscape is a very important element 

to beautify the space where people are living in.

This is details of material, which i choose to draw tiles.

I realised that I've been quite interested in the patterns of the tiles

and hence, I decided to draw tiles for my details of materials.

The two types of tiles I have drawn are the giraffe-patterned tiles and outdoor tiles.

These are some of my favourite pattern for the tiles.

Well, I found out that it is very important to observe closely

 and notice the details of every materials.

Anyway, it is something fun and interesting to observe the details.

I get to understand more about these topics by doing the sketch.

 

Next, these are the few types of plant that we were asked to draw.

I'm very happy that I get to choose to draw any type of plants that I like.

So, the three flowering plants that I have drawn are the Rose plant, Tulip and White lily.

I also did some research on the specific name of the plants.

Hence, I feel that plant is also an important element to make the place 

we are living in looks more lively and beautiful. 

 

On the other hand, the next topic we were given are more about the things that provide a living space, services and comfort to us.

The above sketch is about the service details,

in which I've drawn the elevator and escalator.

The elevator and escalator to me, are the very important services that I can't live without.

This is because I couldn't imagine myself climbing up the stairs everyday to reach my home which is at the 11th storey.

Also, in the shopping mall, people wouldn't want to climb the stairs while carrying a lot of heavy stuffs.

Thus, it is very important for everyone to have such services.

From doing this sketch,  I've learned in details about the elements that made up an elevator and escalator.

And, it seems very complex to me.

 

Another sketch of mine I would like to share is about the furniture.

I've drawn all these by looking at the furniture in my home.

By looking at the sketch above, the first furniture I've drawn is the TV console,

next, the coffee table and dressing table.

In short, I feel that it is quite difficult to get the right angle 

by looking at the real thing and then, to have draw it out.

However, I'm starting to like to draw these stuffs without realizing.

In conclusion, I feel that I have some improvement on sketching comparing to last time.

And I'm becoming more interested in sketching using different kind of techniques. 

 

PROJECT 1A ,

Ostrich.

The jetty.

The beach, Desaru.

Traditional house.

My first project on this subject.

We were given a task to make four postcards with a specific topic.

The place I've chosen to draw are my hometown, Desaru.

Desaru is located at the end of Johor.

It is a very nice and friendly place by the beach.

The ostrich I've drawn is one of the type of ostrich in the Ostrich Show Farm in Desaru.

It is a famous attraction for Singapore tourists and also the local ones.

As for the jetty, it is one of the old jetty that have been used by generation to generation in my hometown.

Next is the beautiful and magnificient sight of Desaru beach.

Lastly, this traditional house is my grandma's house.

It is even older than Malaysia's Independence Day.

However, some part of it has already been renovated.

I've used colour pencils to make my postcards.

I enjoyed doing this project as I get to share my beautiful hometown with everyone.

And making your very own postcards are fun and cool.

I've also learned the real format of making postcards and also my drawing techniques has improved a lot.

PROJECT 1B ,

The next project is making a collage about SPACE.

The collage I made is my imaginary space.

It is an abstract space that I yearned to have.

It is about, I want to have a small and cosy cottage which

have a lot of flowers and plants.

The whole place is covered with grass 

and there is a beautiful stairs tied with many flowers that can lead me up to the moon.

The moon is my secret place where I can relax and think of my future or anything that concerns me.

While, the stars shine brightly to lit up my life and the whole space.

 

PROJECT 2A ,

 

 

 

Project 2A is a group work to do a case study about rural, suburban and urban area.

My group members are Karyn, Yii Shin, Chun Jun and also Cul Wei.

We've went for a site visit to Pulau Indah, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya

in order to get to know more about these places that we will be doing a research on.

The topic we have chosen is the Infrastructure - The Road System.

Through this project, I have understand more about the differences of rural, suburban and urban area.

I also know how to read and plot the map, 

I've learned how to do research on case study.

 

PROJECT 2B ,

Followed by project 2A, project 2B is a presentation on the case study we've done earlier.

From this project, I've learned to be more brave to speak infront of the people.

However, I know that there's still some space of improvement.

Thus, always get yourself prepared before presenting your work.

As a whole, I enjoyed the classes and tutorials.

I'm grateful to have met all the helpful and nice lecturers.
